AASTRA offers the business user a communications platform that allows them to build the system bit by bit as required, whilst still retaining the ability to use modern day computer technologies within it.

Aastra at Progressive Communications Ltd

This Swiss made product dominates the European market and is based on IP technology, thus opening up new and cost efficient alternatives for company communications.

The best way for managers to get a true picture of their company or department is simply to phone their own switchboard a number of times and ask to be transferred to key departments and personnel.

How the call is handled will reveal more about an organisation than any number of consultants’ reports.

The telephone system, or PBX (Private Branch Exchange) as it is often called, is a company’s main link with the outside world and can have a major impact on potential customers’ first impressions of a business. If callers are met with an engaged signal, if they are put on hold and then forgotten, if they are passed from department to department, if they are sent to voicemail without warning, they may take their business elsewhere.

What are you looking for?

Most business telephone systems do a myriad of clever things but how do they work? Can you remember the code that allows you to set up a conference call? Is it # or * to set the service up and have you got time to plough through the manual to learn how it works.

Aastra have approached the problem in a different way. They make life easy by offering you different choices in the liquid crystal display. As you use the phone so the choices differ. All you have to do is push the button under that choice and the job is done.

For example if you pick up the handset the option to conference pops up in your screen. You just select conference and bring in the other party. The whole system works in roughly the same way as your mobile handset. If you use a mobile and feel comfortable with it then Aastra is the system for you.

If you then add to this Swiss build quality you have a powerful business tool that will cater to all your future needs.

The Aastra system is also ETSI compliant. What does that mean in plain English! Well ETSI is the European equivalent of OFTEL our communications watchdog. ETSI governs the standards set in Europe. Europe in many ways is far more advanced than we are over here in the UK. The European network of exchanges offer far more facilities to the business community. BT are in the process of updating their exchanges in order to catch up with the rest of Europe.

The reason for mentioning this is because the Aastra product is fully ETSI compliant NOW. Very few other manufacturers are. It is something you should check. So how does being ETSI compliant make a difference to your business? The answer lies in the way your phone system will integrate with the local exchange. For example most phone systems can set up call forwarding to a mobile, however what normally happens is that a call comes into the business on one line and then pops out on a second line. That's great; it works but it is using two lines. You only need a couple of people doing that and you are not making the best use of your telephone lines.

The Aastra product allows the user to do the same divert but at the local exchange. This leaves your lines free for call traffic. How can it do this? Because it speaks the local exchange's language. It is ETSI compliant. If you are going to spend money on updating your system you need it to be as future proof as possible. If you want to know more why not give us a call?
