Basic Rental and Connection Charges for a New Line
British Telecom plc have recently increased their line rental costs by 7%. Daytime calls are set to increase by 23% for customers on Option 1, Option 2 and Option 3 tariffs which are now renamed after BT plans.
These plans usual tie customers into a contract for anything up to 2, 3 and 5 years. The plan is designed to tie you into a fixed contract.
They also expect a definite commitment to spend a certain amount. If you fail to spend that amount there can be punitive claw backs. They have also started minute billing which means if you are on the telephone for 1 minute 2 seconds you pay for 2 minutes. There are tricks like call set up fees that include a 7p charge for failing to connect to a mobile or a 2p charge for failing to connect to a land line.
