What is it and why would I need it?
Firstly, what is it?
In simple terms Data cabling (Cat 5/Cat 6) is a system of cables that is typically used for connecting up a computer network. However it is not just computers that work across this cabling. You can also connect a telephone system, printer, fax. and even security cameras.
The cables run from wall outlet by your desk back to a panel known as a Patch Panel. (See diagram below). These wall sockets then appear as corresponding ports numbered on the patch panel, allowing ease of movement of equipment around the office.
Progressive Communications Ltd can provide engineers that can install Category 5e, Category 6 cabling and Optic fibre if required. The cables are installed to a very high standard and come with a full warranty and test results.

Useful tips
If you are moving to a new office check to see what wiring has already been installed. Companies often make the mistake or ripping out perfectly usable wiring only to reinstall it at huge expense.
If you do have to cable a building do it before the furniture goes in!
As a general rule take time to think how many outlets you need and get them put in one go. A return trip to install cables in a busy office can be a nightmare!
